We have seen too many businesses and people leave our incredible ward and city as a result of the pandemic, new ways of working and economic conditions.
So I took action. The Voice of the City survey was launched in July in partnership with many of your businesses. Over 100 of you responded and informed our future.
Take a look at the results!
We need to recognise there has been a fundamental shift in how we work and design a City around that.
At a time where organisations and the City are encouraging us back into the office, many of us are indicating that we are happy with the current arrangement or would want to come in slightly less. Note: None of the above had comments on 'already enticed'.
We need to amplify the positive aspects of the City while also addressing some critical issues around transport, green spaces, diversity, 'a better vibe' and the 'sea of grey'.
The great news is that 42% of us recommend working in the City. And 100% of us recommend working in the City either fully, depending on career, or with some changes.
We need to work together to have a bigger impact as a community. We can identify what we are each doing, harmonise and amplify.
We recognise that there are 'pockets of brilliance' in the work that each of our businesses are doing around social mobility, talent, climate, green, networks and connections.
We need to recognise that 77% of us do not eat or drink at Leadenhall market, and 88% do not shop there. We need to get into the root of the issue and think bigger. Go beyond 'like for like' shop replacement.
With 82% of us indicating that better food and shopping options near our offices would entice our return, we need to recognise that Leadenhall market plays a significant role in the success of the City.
